Yumna Zaidi was born on 30 July 1989 and is a Pakistani TV actress. She is recognized for her roles in serials: Khushi Ek Roag, Meri Dulari, Dil Muhallay ki haveli, Rishtay Kuch Adhooray Se, Mausam, Guzarish, Zara Yaad Kr, and recently she played a very different character of Mahjabeen in Pyar kay Sadqay opposite Bilal abbas khan.
Early and Personal Life of Yumna Zaidi
Yumna was born and raised in Lahore, resides in Texas, and works in between Karachi-Lahore.
Her father Zameendar Zaidi was a businessman and died in June 2019, and her mother Shabana Naheed Zaidi is a housewife. She is from the village of Arif Wala in Pakpattan, Punjab. She has done a master’s in interior design and has experience in radio jockey and hosting.

She did not aspire to pursue acting, however, on the insistence of her sister’s friend Affan Waheed.
Yumna’s Drama Debut
She started acting by playing a supporting role in ARY’digital ‘s domestic drama Thakan in 2012 and followed it by a leading role in the melodrama Khushi Ek rog. She then appeared in Urdu 1’s drama Teri rah main Eul Gai opposite Sami khan where she played the role of Maryam.
She received praise for portraying emotionally intense characters in dramas, Geo Tv’s meri Dulari in 2013, and Hum Tv’s Ullu Baraye Farokht Nahi. Her acclaimed role of Troubled wife in Rishtay Kuch Adhooray Se in 2013 established her as a leading actress in Pakistan.

She subsequently did a special appearance in the 2013 series Sannata alongside Sajal Ali and Agha Ali. She gained wider recognition by dramas such as Mausam in 2014 Madawa in 2015, Guzarish, Kanch ki Guriya Paras, Jugnoo, and ap ki Kaneezthe same year. She garnered several best actress nominations for them.
In 2016 she appeared in Momina Duraid’s Zara Yaad Kar opposite Zahid Ahmed and Sana Javed, in which she played the lead character of Uzma Ikhtiar.
She then appeared in Hum Tv’s drama ye Raha Dil in 2017 opposite Ahmed Ali Akbar. She played the character of Hayat whose mother has died and her father deserted her at a very young age.
Her on-screen chemistry with Ahmed Ali was praised by viewers and earned her nominations for best On-screen couple at hum awards. Later she signed Kashif Nisar’directorial Pinjra and played as Sila in dar si jati hai Sila in the same year opposite Noman Ijaz.
She played the role of a victim of sexual harassment. She was praised by critics for playing such a tough character.
In 2018-19 she appeared in Pukar as Samra, widow of a feudal lord. She then appeared in 7th sky entertainment’s project Dil Kiya Karey directed by Mehreen Jabbar.
She played the role of Hajra in the social drama serial Inkar opposite Imran Ashraf and Sami khan. She made a Special appearance in Angeline Malik’s Anthology series Choti Choti Batain. She further did an extended cameo in Ishq Zahe Naseeb and played Raina in the telefilm Shaadi impossible.
Recent projects of Yumna
Recently she played the tremendous character of Mahjabeen in Pyar kay Sadqay opposite Bilal abbas khan which gained her huge popularity and was praised by the audience for doing such a tough and challenging character.
Nowadays her drama Raaz – e – Ulfat is on air on Geo Tv, which is a 7th sky entertainment project. She played a role of a young and innocent girl Mushk who belongs to a conservative family opposite Shahzad sheikh. It is a grey character a fact which is neither too submissive nor evil.
Media appearance of Yumna Zaidi
She is widely active in media and appeared on talk shows often. In 2016 after the ban on crime drama serial Udaari, she raised her voice by saying ” It’s based on a social cause and we should create awareness by such dramas” she walked the ramp for designer Aisha Farid’s collection on hum tv’s bridal couture week.
She also appeared in the well-known and popular comedy talk show Mazak Raat in 2017.
